SUMMARY

The market held within a narrow range for the majority of the week, with small, mixed moves posted along the NBP curve.

Data from Gas Infrastructure Europe shows that combined EU storage levels stood at 82.93% on 15th October with stocks continuing to flicker above and below the bloc’s target of 83% amid short stints of net injections and net withdrawals.

Members states are aiming to maintain a level of 83% up to 1st December but above-average demand is hampering efforts to create a buffer above the target level.

The baseload power curve largely mirrored movements on its gas counterpart due to the currently enhanced role of gas in the UK’s power mix.

Gas has served consistently as the largest source of generation over the last week, with greater than 50% of the UK’s electricity being powered by gas. Bullish carbon prices have also only added to costs associated with this form of generation.

Say 'No' to cold calling on business energy

Unfortunately, business electricity and business gas customers in the UK are bombarded with unsolicited cold calls on a daily basis.

This unscrupulous approach does not offer the business energy customer an impartial view on the market and the price offered is more often 20-30% above the current retail price for electricity or gas.

At Energy Advice Line we strongly advise customers to not accept these offers and follow our simple steps to ensure that they are not locked into an uncompetitive contract.

Join our cold calling campaign here, and spread the word to say 'no' to cold calling on business energy!
