SUMMARY

The NBP inched higher for the majority of the week, supported by geopolitical uncertainty and persistently weak LNG send out.

Although recent signals suggested the US and Iran were moving closer to a ceasefire agreement, an Iranian strike on a Kuwaiti airport during the week, a country that has seen little conflict since April, has renewed doubts over the likelihood of a deal being reached.

LNG supply also remains tight with the latest shipping data indicating that only one laden vessel is expected to arrive at UK terminals this month.

European gas storage inventories remain heavily depleted compared to last year. Great Britain currently holds 2.9 TWh (down from 10.2 TWh), while overall EU storage stands at 467 TWh, a sharp drop from 562 TWh recorded on the same date last year.

On the power side, a huge increase in wind generation was recorded in the second half of the week. Although uncertainty remains due to the Iran conflict, increases in renewable generation certainly helps put a cap on further potentional increases.

Say 'No' to cold calling on business energy

Unfortunately, business electricity and business gas customers in the UK are bombarded with unsolicited cold calls on a daily basis.

This unscrupulous approach does not offer the business energy customer an impartial view on the market and the price offered is more often 20-30% above the current retail price for electricity or gas.

At Energy Advice Line we strongly advise customers to not accept these offers and follow our simple steps to ensure that they are not locked into an uncompetitive contract.

Join our cold calling campaign here, and spread the word to say 'no' to cold calling on business energy!
