Opus Energy sell SME customer portfolio to EDF Energy
Opus Energy have today (26/06/2024) announced the sale of their small and medium sized portfolio to EDF Energy.
Although we don’t currently know how many of Opus customers this affects, they expect that the transfer of EDF will take effect from Q3 2024.
Following satisfaction of certain conditions to completion of transaction, including regulatory assessment, both companies will ensure a seamless transfer of customer contracts.
Opus will be writing to all affected customers to let them know what this means for them.
They have advised impacted customers on contracted rates that they will be transferring their contract to EDF, and their account balances and billing arrangements remain unchanged for now. It really is business as usual when their customer contracts switch to EDF, who will also be writing to customers in the coming weeks with further information.
For customers on Deemed or Out of Contract rates, EDF will be in touch nearer the time with what this means for them.
For those customers whose contracts are not migrating to EDF, nothing will change and they don’t need to do anything.
The price contracted customers pay for their energy and the way their contract works won’t change. The customer’s terms and conditions and the contract end date will stay the same too.
Opus Energy have confirmed that they will not be accepting any new business contracts but will accept any that are already signed and going through the registration process.
The Opus Energy customer service team is still open and will carry on business as usual for the time being and before the customer account transfers to EDF.
You can call Energy Advice Line at any time. We will be in touch with you personally as soon as Opus provide us with a list of customers that are being transferred.
You can also take a look at the Opus Energy support page which will be updated all of the time with the latest information.
