SUMMARY

Prices increased this week as Europe prepares for battle with East Asia for LNG shipments, reversing last weeks losses.

Record temperatures across East Asia (China, Japan, Korea) risks boosting LNG demand and driving up European prices. Although buying activity in the region remains muted for now, ships carrying LNG will simply change course to the highest bidder and Europe will need to remain competitive to satisfy demand.

Norwegian flows remained firm following maintenance disruptions earlier this month, though nominations aree down year-on-year – 64.5mcm versus 78.9mcm in 2024.

While trending lower than last year, European storage levels have made up a substantial amount of ground and can now be considered well-stocked, reinforcing supply security ahead of winter and serving as a price ceiling for the near-curve, limiting further upside in the absence of fresh bullish drivers.

While broader supply fundamentals remain steady, the lack of renewable output highlights the market’s sensitivity to short-term supply fluctuations, particularly as the UK heads into the latter part of summer with intermittent weather patterns.

Say 'No' to cold calling on business energy

Unfortunately, business electricity and business gas customers in the UK are bombarded with unsolicited cold calls on a daily basis.

This unscrupulous approach does not offer the business energy customer an impartial view on the market and the price offered is more often 20-30% above the current retail price for electricity or gas.

At Energy Advice Line we strongly advise customers to not accept these offers and follow our simple steps to ensure that they are not locked into an uncompetitive contract.

Join our cold calling campaign here, and spread the word to say 'no' to cold calling on business energy!
