SUMMARY

Prices edged higher during the week, supported by stronger than usual demand, as most of July is forecast to be hotter than average across Europe and North Asia.

This sustained heat will drive up demand for cooling, potentially increasing gas consumption and creating ongoing risks for energy supplies, at a time where Europe is focussed on replenishing storage levels.

European gas storage levels currently sit around 13% below the five-year average (data from Gas Infrastructure Europe) which will be raising concerns about supply security ahead of the winter season.

The power market once again mirrored gas market trends for most of the week, with near-term baseload prices posting modest gains.

Elevated electricity demand, driven by increased cooling needs was not helped by a notable drop in wind generation for the 2nd half of the week with drops of over 20%.

Say 'No' to cold calling on business energy

Unfortunately, business electricity and business gas customers in the UK are bombarded with unsolicited cold calls on a daily basis.

This unscrupulous approach does not offer the business energy customer an impartial view on the market and the price offered is more often 20-30% above the current retail price for electricity or gas.

At Energy Advice Line we strongly advise customers to not accept these offers and follow our simple steps to ensure that they are not locked into an uncompetitive contract.

Join our cold calling campaign here, and spread the word to say 'no' to cold calling on business energy!
